Early Look at Island of Blood

by DKC on August 10, 2010

Earlier today, each of our four stores received a promo copy of Warhammer Fantasy’s new Island of Blood starter box. Moving on from 7th edition’s starter, this box contains a plethora of High Elf and Skaven models.  If you haven’t been paying attention, this is one of those super bundle deals that Games Workshop produces every few years. The box contains templates, dice, measuring sticks, an intro pamphlet, a paper back rulebook, a High Elf lord of griffon, High Elf mage, 5 Ellyrian Reavers, 10 Swordmasters of Hoeth, 10 Lothern Sea Guard, a Skaven warlord, warlock engineer, master moulder, 2 Rat Ogres, 40 clanrats, a poison wind mortar, and a warp fire thrower.

May I remind you that of the models that come in this box set, the Swordmasters, Ellyrian Reavers, Warlock Engineer, Skaven Warlord and Master Moulder were only available in the form of metal models previously. Also, the High Elf lord on griffon, Lothern Sea Guard and Poison Wind mortar did not even have models! Games Workshop’s webstore lists this box at $99.00 retail, which is a pretty good deal for something that contains around $300 of total product.

Remember, this bad boy won’t arrive in stores until September 4th, but you can walk on in to your nearest Game Preserve and have a look first-hand.

I personally oversaw every game being played at our ‘Ard Boyz event and I can assure you that Jon Cash did not cheat at any time. There was a bit of confusion from most of the players at the event, since they weren’t fully familiar with 8th Edition’s rules yet, but there was certainly no cheating that I witnessed.

Jon Cash cheats too. I refuse to ever play him again.
